Job description


Our Client based in Durban/JHB seeks to employ an IR Officer.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate employee disciplinary process and grievance handling
  • Ensure employee disciplinary issues are fairly and consistently implemented
  • Record keeping of disciplinaries and minutes of hearings
  • Regular engagement with employees to explain company policies and procedures, address issues timeously and report all unresolved issues to management
  • CCMA Representations
  • Issuing of all warnings in accordance to the code of conduct
  • Maintaining employment policies and procedures
  • Consulting with unions

 Experience & Qualification

  • Degree in Human Resources Management, Humanities or relevant qualification from an accredited tertiary institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience in a similar position preferably in the educational sector or similar environment
  • In-depth knowledge of the Labour Act and the ability to interpret provisions in the law to the work situation
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent report and minute taking skills
  • Ability to prepare proposals for management’s attention
  • Knowledgeable in disciplinary matters
  • Strong computer skills on Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related Software packages
  • Ability to follow and maintain an effective disciplinary investigative mechanism that is fair and transparent
